Say goodbye to Ruby Tuesday and Chilis These are the hot new restaurants at the mall

china house restaurant

The restaurant’s recipes were originally reserved for royalty and have been passed down through generations of chefs who worked in the imperial kitchen. Standout dishes — including chef Tian’s famed Peking duck which requires reservations two days in advance — are served in a room that feels like a traditional Chinese courtyard from the Qing Dynasty. Los Angeles’s tremendous Chinese food scene keeps getting better and better.

Szechuan Shrimp

The fish at Sichuan KungFu Fish is served in big metal fish-shaped hot pot containers filled with a bright red chile-infused broth. Diners choose between swai, cod, pollock fillet, and a handful of other proteins. Then, they pick their choice of spicy soup base and extra add-ons like quail eggs, spicy sour noodles, and udon. The dish arrives looking like a whole fish swimming in a pool of red chiles.

Well, I don’t think it’s just limited to college campuses. We have seen intense feelings about this conflict play out in Hollywood. We’ve seen them in our politics in all kinds of interesting ways. That reality, that taking a different tack that was supposed to be full of learnings and lessons from the stumbles of her peers, the fact that didn’t really work suggests that there’s something really intractable going on here.

Columbia University is at the center of a growing showdown over the war in Gaza and the limits of free speech.

Since opening in Alhambra in 2013, chef Tony Xu has been nominated for a James Beard Award and has since expanded Chengdu Taste all over the nation. Xu also owns the chain of Mian restaurants, which specialize in Sichuan-style noodles. The aforementioned cumin toothpick lamb is a must-order, along with the boiled fish with green pepper sauce and mung bean jelly noodles. Lan Noodle is a powerhouse for Lanzhou-style noodles and each bowl is made to order.

Hop Li Seafood Restaurant

The tiny, family-run restaurant has a respectable lineup of Sichuan specialty dishes, like spicy chile oil wontons, “couple’s beef,” kung pao chicken, mung bean noodles, mapo tofu, water-boiled fish, and chile oil rabbit. The bobo chicken is a Sichuan dish that dates back to the Qing Dynasty. It consists of cold slices of various chicken parts placed on skewers and dunked in a numbing and spicy chile broth. The mapo tofu is silky and topped with chile and mala numbing spices. The fried string beans and cumin lamb dishes also hit the spot.

Unfortunately, longstanding restaurants like Plum Tree Inn and New Dragon Seafood have closed forever along with Hainan chicken specialist Pearl River Deli. And while newcomers like Flouring bakery opened in recent months, stalwarts like Yang Chow and Pho 87 remain with a strong footing. Here are some of Chinatown’s most essential restaurants to try in 2024. Xiao Long Kan excels at creating an iconic high-end classical Chinese ambience, combining unique menu items like crystal beef (brisket and egg) and varying spice levels with live guzheng musical performances.

And there was no clearer embodiment of that than what had happened that morning just as President Shafik was going to testify before Congress. And it’s a university on top of all that that has a real history of activism dating back to the 1960s. So when students are recruited or choose to come to Columbia, they’re actively opting into a campus that prides itself on being an activist community. They consider the city and the world, really, like a classroom to Columbia. “Traditional mall restaurants were casual dining chains like Chili’s, TGI Fridays, and quick-service restaurants in food courts.

UT Austin Police give "all clear" for dispersal order as authorities arrest more than 30 protesters

The restaurant’s unique rotating machine ensures a hands-free, ideal blend of smokiness and tenderness with even cooking. Favorites include the cumin lamb skewers, pork belly, oyster mushrooms, and corn. There’s also a slew of offal selections like chicken gizzard, heart, and even bull penis on a skewer. All skewers are accompanied by both spicy and non-spicy powders and sauces. The namesake Chong Qing handmade noodles are rolled fresh and doused in chile oil, and the biang biang noodles are covered in chile flakes, vinegar, and tossed in a spicy hot sauce. Each noodle dish can be adjusted to one’s preferred spice level.

The 26-year-old, whose company, August, sells menstrual products and is known for her advocacy around destigmatizing menstrual periods, makes most of her income from TikTok. The company has good reason to think a legal challenge could be successful, having seen some success in previous legal fights over its operations in the U.S. In November, a federal judge blocked a Montana law that would ban TikTok use across the state after the company and five content creators who use the platform sued. Members of both parties, along with intelligence officials, have worried that Chinese authorities could force ByteDance to hand over American user data or direct the company to suppress or boost TikTok content favorable to its interests.

In recent years, some upscale new places have opened serving some of the highest-end Chinese food in the U.S., though there is still a wealth of reasonably-priced strip mall finds from Alhambra and Rowland Heights. The San Gabriel Valley in particular boasts some of the strongest regional Chinese restaurants anywhere, so it’s worth digging deep and searching out those small mom-and-pop spots hidden away in food courts or behind the main streets. Here now, are 25 of the essential Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles. And now these schools only have a week or two left of classes. We don’t know if students are going to leave campus for the summer.

The mapo tofu comes covered in cheese in a fondue dip where pieces of bread are pulled through a mozzarella and tofu mixture. Their rendition of orange chicken is made their own with Sichuan touches. The flaming pork jowl is a popular dish that servers set on fire at the table with potent 151-proof rum, and cocktails are also extremely innovative. Auntie Kitchen is one of the most reliable restaurants serving traditional Cantonese fare.

They were asked very pointed questions about the kind of speech taking place on their campuses, and they gave really convoluted academic answers back that just baffled the committee. But there was one question that really embodied the kind of disconnect between the Committee — And it wasn’t just Republicans, Republicans and Democrats on the Committee — and these college presidents. Nick, if we rewind the clock a few months, we end up at a moment where students at several of the country’s best known universities are protesting Israel’s response to the October 7 attacks, its approach to a war in Gaza. At times, those protests are happening peacefully, at times with rhetoric that is inflammatory. And the result is that the leaders of those universities land before Congress. But the president of Columbia University, which is the subject we’re going to be talking about today, is not one of the leaders who shows up for that testimony.

It’s at this moment that they set out to build their encampment. Not every restaurant can say they starred as a set piece in Rush Hour (nor feel the need to paint that fact onto the side of their building). This family-owned restaurant has been around since 1977, serving up standard comfort dishes like wonton soup, sweet and sour pork, fried pork chops, and orange chicken to both Jackie Chan and people who aren’t Jackie Chan. Fresh chunks of lobster meat are sliced and placed on top of a fruit bed. Expect fine dining plus a show, as diners are treated to something like a traditional Beijing opera performance. Hot pots feature premium ingredients like imported fresh seafood and wagyu beef.

Da Long Yi is a Sichuan hot pot chain from the city of Chengdu that specializes in a three broth hot pot experience that includes a lighter, non-spicy mushroom broth, a non-spicy tomato broth, and its signature red hot broth. The signature broth is made with dozens of herbs, chile peppers, and peppercorns that have been sourced from different Chinese provinces and fried in beef tallow. Dun Huang pulls eight different shapes of noodles, from extra-thin angel hair to extra-wide belts. Don’t forget to order a deep-fried flatbread marinated in cumin, Sichuan peppercorn, and dry chile oil.

And when this spring rolls around, the stars finally align. And the same congressional committee issues another invitation to Minouche Shafik, Columbia’s President, to come and testify. And two of the presidents, Claudine Gay of Harvard and Elizabeth Magill of the University of Pennsylvania, they’re unwilling to say in this really kind of intense back and forth that this speech would constitute a violation of their rules. The amount of space dedicated to food in malls has grown from 5% in the 1990s to 15 to 20% today, according to Deloitte.

Landlords are counting on emerging restaurant brands like Lazy Dog, Gen Korean BBQ and Postino Wine Café to draw customers back to malls. So-called “eatertainment” concepts such as Puttshack and Topgolf, which can extend the amount of time people spend in a mall, are expanding. One fast-growing chain targeted to families, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, delivers plates to diners on conveyor belts as rolling robots serve drinks.

The Republican Chairwoman of the Committee, Virginia Foxx, starts reminding her that there was a student who was actually hit with a stick on campus. There was another gathering more recently glorifying Hamas and other terrorist organizations, and the kind of chants that have become an everyday chorus on campus, which many Jewish students see as threatening. But when the questioning starts, President Shafik is ready. One of the first ones she gets is the one that tripped up her colleagues.

The 17 Essential Restaurants in LA’s Chinatown

The pork hock is a popular dish that falls off the bone and the fried fish with seaweed powder should not be missed. Don’t forget to finish the meal with the osmanthus sweet soup with black sesame dumplings for dessert. Chengdu Taste is arguably the most popular Sichuan restaurant in Los Angeles and single-handedly popularized cumin toothpick lamb.

Columbia University is at the center of a growing showdown over the war in Gaza and the limits of free speech.

Notably, the buffet features all-you-can-eat offerings such as chicken feet, chips, sweet porridge, sweet jelly, glutinous rice balls, and even snow fungus. And so when you have a question that feels as urgent as this war does for a lot of people, I think it reverberates in an incredibly intense way on those campuses. And there’s something like — I don’t know if it’s quite a contradiction of terms, but there’s a collision of different values at stake.

Regulators close Philadelphia-based Republic First Bank, first US bank failure this year

It seemed, instead, to really intensify everything on campus. It was something truly unimaginable, over 100 students slash other individuals are arrested from our campus, forcefully removed. And although they were suspended, there was a feeling of traumatic event that has just happened to these students, but also this sense of like, OK, the worst of the worst that could have happened to us just happened.

It's prominent, and it's there, but you probably don’t think about it much. Here you’ll find brightly colored buildings, streets named “Bamboo Lane” and “Chung King Road,” and red lanterns that sway overhead. But this Eastside neighborhood is more than just a kitschy photo op—it’s fully embedded in the city’s history. Since mid-March, TikTok has spent $5 million on TV ads opposing the legislation, according to AdImpact, an advertising tracking firm. The ads have included a diverse group of content creators, including a nun, extolling the positive impacts of the platform on their lives and arguing a ban would trample on the 1st Amendment.

Red 99 also makes one of the best renditions of jiuniang yuan zi, a subtly sweet and boozy dessert soup with fermented glutinous rice, dried osmanthus flower, and chewy glutinous black sesame rice balls. Ji Rong is a San Gabriel Valley staple that specializes in traditional Peking duck, which comes with thin pancakes, shredded green onion, julienned cucumber, and hoisin sauce. The duck skin is sliced thinly over a layer of fatty and tender duck meat. The bones are all removed, making it easy for diners to make their own wraps. There are no walk-ins for Peking duck; make sure to call ahead and reserve a duck at least an hour and a half to two hours ahead. Although the Peking duck is the star dish, mapo tofu, stewed pork belly, kung pao chicken, and lamb skewers are also standout options.

Jiang Nan translates to “south of the river” and refers to the areas south of the Yangtze River, including Shanghai. One of the most unique items on the menu is the traditional Chinese dish beggar’s chicken. This dish rarely appears on menus because of its complexity and lengthy preparation. Beggar’s chicken consists of marinated chicken wrapped tightly in layers of lotus leaves, parchment paper, and dough baked slowly on low heat. Other house specialties include stir-fried crab with rice cakes, braised pork belly, lion’s head pork meatballs, eight treasure rice pudding, and osmanthus glutinous rice balls.

Meizhou Dongpo’s braised pork belly dong po rou, dan dan noodles, and bang bang poached chicken are solid takes on the traditional dishes. In a white building stamped with curly, italic blue letters that look almost identical to the Three’s Company font you’ll find ABC Seafood, an extravagant Hong Kong-style restaurant serving dim sum, barbecued meats, and of course, seafood. West Lake-style beef soup comes packed with egg white and fish filets, and chicken feet are served in black bean sauce. Come here whenever you want to impress wide-eyed out-of-towners or your mom on a Sunday morning (which is even harder). Hip Hot in Monterey Park specializes in melding seafood from Cantonese cuisine with Sichuan flavors.

It basically boils down to this, she had just gone before Congress and told them, I’m going to get tough on these protests. So either she gets tough and risks inflaming tension on campus or she holds back and does nothing and her words before Congress immediately look hollow. Yeah, this big moment that tripped up her predecessors and cost them their jobs, it seems like she has cleared that hurdle and dispatched with the Congressional committee that could have been one of the biggest threats to her presidency. And that’s of a Middle Eastern studies professor named Joseph Massad. He wrote an essay not long after Hamas invaded Israel and killed 1,200 people, according to the Israeli government, where he described that attack with adjectives like awesome. Now, he said they’ve been misinterpreted, but a lot of people have taken offense to those comments.

And I wonder how you’re thinking about this intractable situation that’s now arrived on these college campuses. And I think if we zoom out for a second, it’s worth bearing in mind that she tried to choose a different path here than her counterparts at Harvard or Penn. And after all of this, she’s kind of ended up in the exact same thicket, with people calling for her job with the White House, the Mayor of New York City, and others. Maybe not calling on her to resign quite yet, but saying, I don’t know what’s going on your campus.

The quick-service restaurant specializes in traditional Guilin rice noodles. The broth is made with boiled pork, ox bones, and various seasonings, with the most common ingredients being pork and pig offal. The noodles are typically topped with marinated meat slices, chopped scallions, fried soybean, pepper, and sesame oil. After running a successful restaurant in China and working at Panda Restaurant Group in Los Angeles, Tony Xu opened Alhambra’s Chengdu Taste in 2013.

The best dishes at Rosemead’s Best Noodle House aren’t even noodle-related. Try the cold skin-on chicken, which is thoroughly dressed in a mouth-numbing mala sauce with crushed peanuts and scallions. The pig ears in chile oil cold appetizer is also fantastic. For more than a decade, Sichuan food has taken Los Angeles by storm to become one of the most popular regional Chinese cuisines in the city.

But college campuses, at least in their most idealized form, are something special. They’re a place where students get to go for four years to think in big ways about moral questions, and political questions, and ideas that help shape the world they’re going to spend the rest of their lives in. And for those students who maybe couldn’t go back to — into campus, now all of their peers, who were supporters or are in solidarity, are — in some sense, it’s further emboldened. They’re now not just sitting on the lawns for a pro-Palestinian cause, but also for the students, who have endured quite a lot.

Tam’s Noodle House opened during the pandemic selling only frozen Hong Kong-style wontons and dumplings. All the noodles and dumplings are made in-house, including three varieties of egg noodles (wonton-style egg noodles, rice noodles, and flat egg noodles). Tam’s also has a new location in Rowland Heights at Colima Road. Southern Mini Town is a Shanghainese restaurant that only has a few tables. The sheng jian bao (pan-fried pork soup dumplings) are fluffy and juicy. Other must-order dishes include winter melon soup, Chinese okra with salted duck egg, pan-fried Shanghai rice cakes, Shanghainese eggplant, pork kidney, and clam stew egg custard.

And what we’ll be looking to is, where do we go from here? So That is the big question in terms of what will happen. Having the encampment happen on the Wednesday morning of the hearing was an incredible, in some senses, interesting strategy to direct eyes to different places. After the break, what all of this has looked like to a student on Columbia’s campus.

"Today I made for you a coconut funfetti cake. It's coconut cake with sprinkles filled with coconut milk pastry cream a vanilla coconut frosting and shredded coconut and sprinkles. It's like funfetti meets coconut cake hybrid," she said. "I also made a take on our favorite snacking cookie. It's like an oatmeal cream pie or a stuffed oatmeal sandwich cookie and it's kind of a molasses oatmeal cookie filled with a cream cheese vanilla bean frosting and I think it's good." And on Wednesday, Hamas released a video of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American dual citizen, whom Hamas has held hostage since October 7. It was the first time that he has been shown alive since his captivity began.

There are also things like a sternum strap, the intelligent use of magnetic closures throughout the bag, the doodad pockets tucked away inside other pockets, and more. This modularity also makes it great for other purposes, like as a diaper bag! Using it, I appreciate the ability to adapt on the fly so that if I only want to bring one or two lenses, I can sequester those easily and open up the rest of the space as needed. Where once it held an extra body, with a flip or two of a divider, it fits a jacket.

But I think the pack is proportioned too short to make effective use of a hip belt (a belt might help stabilize the pack, but not really transfer the weight to hips). I have other packs to use if "light" is a priority. They're all plenty strong and durable for their intended purpose, but the PD, like Porta Brace and Pelican, is in the "no worries" category of bag I prefer for production use.

Camera Cube V1 Dividers + Pockets

Through 3 iterations that compromise has remained essentially unchanged. A major design flaw of this bag is its use of double opening zippers. This allows the bag to be opened from either end which is convenient but unsafe.

So you can keep your charged batteries on one side and your dead ones on the other. Whether or not that’s useful is totally up to you, but we like it. You can use those colors to organize your bag, keeping a mental note about what’s in which pocket—whether it’s camera batteries, sunglasses, a power bank, or anything else. And the black and gray looks cleaner than the red and blue stitching in V1.

Everyday Bags

Let’s start with the harness system—it’s been a hot topic in the Pack Hacker community. To summarize our findings, Peak Design has improved the harness system on the Everyday Backpack (V2) quite a bit compared to V1, but it’s still not the best harness system out there. The Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L (V2) is packed with thoughtful design details that work well for camera kits, EDC, and minimal travel—in that order.

A padded, stowable Hip Belt accessory is available for purchase for those who want added stability and comfort with heavy loads. Check out the Everyday Backpack Zip for many of the same features, but in an aesthetically simpler form. The Peak Design Travel Backpack 30L is a good example of the brand’s attention to detail, packing the same innovative features of its 45-liter sibling. Convert the Travel Tripod into an ultralight backpacking tripod. Expandable, thoughtfully-designed dopp kit and toiletry bag.

You can swing the bag out in front of you to access the side pockets or main compartment (more on this later) to grab any gear you may need without skipping a beat. Even at this smaller size, the Travel Backpack 30L’s laptop sleeve is still pretty large. It easily swallows our 16-inch MacBook Pro with tons of room to spare. It’s well-padded at the front and the back, and there’s a false bottom to absorb impacts from setting the bag down on a surface.

If we put it side by side with its bigger sibling, the similarities are more apparent; there’s nothing major to report in terms of aesthetic changes. Like our award-winning 45L Travel Backpack, the 30L is designed to bring you sanity amidst the strenuous pace of travel. But its smaller form makes the 30L perfect for everyday use as well.

Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L (V Review

I'm very happy with this backpack (20 l.), specially when travelling. But I bought it used, and would never pay the price for a new one. I understand that there's a lot of R&D, and customer support creating overhead. I kickstarted Peter's first Capture because it was exactly what I wanted. Then begged them to make a part that could facilitate belt to tripod use. But regrettably vanished with V3, which is also not compatible with plates from V1.

The full clamshell opening gives you access to the bucket-style main compartment, our favorite style for travel bags. It makes packing so much easier since the available space is laid out and ready for packing. As usual, our go-to hack is to use packing cubes to make the most out of every inch of space available. Equally important is how well-structured the sides are. They stay up like the sturdy walls of a suitcase, and even the back panel is quite rigid on its own.

I haven't used it since I got the wandrd PRVKE like 3 years ago. I use it as an office backpack with a place to hold my walkaround camera. Why Wandrd, it is rectangular, the Peak looks cool but on my back it looks like a ninja turtle shell or a ladybug. Wandard can hole a bigger laptop, Peak is for small mac and tablets. The lunch compartment or the curb part is smaller than the wandrd.

The quality is good but not premium as the price suggests. Peak has received more coverage, but it’s spread over a variety of different product categories including straps and their Capture Clip. I forget the model and they don’t seem to make it anymore. However, bags like their 25L Blackhole Backpack or 8L Ultralight Blackhole Sling are worth consideration. Perhaps not the lightest of the light, but a good balance between weight, comfort and durability.

Most backpacks I would be looking at are 250+.When the first PD released it was crazy money. The biggest downside of this product is how poorly it works with their own capture clip. You can use it clamped on the shoulders straps, but the metal back plate then rubs right into your chest as you hike. It's too bad those two tan tabs on the shoulder straps aren't lower down, they would be perfect for a capture clip if they were. I know this bag so well, and it does everything I ask it to do without complaint, why would I want anything else?

A Closer Look at Community Cats Stray Cats TNR

trapping house cats

Some local areas also have laws and regulations regarding untamed and community cats. Learn more about the details of outdoor cat laws in our comprehensive guide. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a process that allows community cats to be humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, ear tipped and released back to their familiar environment. Often kittens and tame cats who are trapped may be placed with rescue organizations for adoption. TNR is the most humane and effective method to control the overpopulation of community cats.

How to Trap a Feral Cat

You can often hear the traps trip and see the cloth cover droop down slightly over the opening from a distance. If the kittens are 8 weeks old, healthy and weigh at least two pounds, they can also be spayed or neutered as a part of the TNVR project. Feral kittens will be vaccinated and ear tipped like the adults and be released to live with the rest of the colony. Generally speaking, friendly 8-week-old kittens may be placed into adoption programs. Canned tuna in oil, canned sardines, or mackerel all work well. The only food you should place out on a trapping day is the food you place directly inside the traps.

SET TRAP OUT OF THE WIND, AND IF POSSIBLE LOCATE IT ALONG A FENCE, A BUILDING OR ANOTHER EXISTING STRUCTURE

Treatment for ear mites or tapeworm can be given at the same time. Rabies – Vaccinating cats against rabies is typically a mandatory part of any TNR program as well as local ordinance. Rabies is extremely rare in cats, but is a deadly disease not only to an affected animal, but also anyone that animal bites. Although the rabies vaccine is most effective if an animal receives two vaccines within a year, one vaccine provides a high level of immunity, which is generally considered sufficient. The State of Illinois changed the Animal Control Act in 2019 to require only one rabies vaccine ever for free-roaming cats. Purchase supplies – You will need newspaper or cardboard to line the bottom of the traps, tape to hold it down so wind doesn’t blow it around and food to use as bait.

When your cat of choice finally goes in, yank the string, pulling the bottle away and shutting the trap door. Be sure to first practice the method at least once so you get the right feel for it, and wait until the cat is far enough in (up to or past the trip plate) before you pull the string. DO NOT withhold food for more than 48 hours before trapping. It’s dangerous to a cat’s health to go without eating for more than two days.

trapping house cats

When possible and practical – set up trap close to the normal feeding location. Resume – You can get back to feeding and caretaking as usual. Understand that cats may be a bit wary following trapping and may even stay away for a while. They typically get back into their normal routine after a few days. Male cats are neutered (castrated, testicles removed) and female cats are spayed (hysterectomy, uterus and ovaries removed).

The Neighborhood Cats TNR Handbook - download now

Unsocialized colonies must be under the sponsorship of an approved TNR program. Caretakers are responsible for registering the colony with the administrator of a TNR program providing vaccinations for rabies, as well as water, food, and shelter. Carers must provide annual reporting on colonies and abide by any other regulations and rules imposed by local governments.

Using a flashlight if necessary, take a close a look from underneath at the incision. If there is any excessive bleeding or inflammation (redness), don't release her and bring her to a veterinarian to be checked. Less time and effort overall - Mass trapping is more efficient than a one-at-a-time approach. Securing traps, finding a holding space, arranging transportation and making spay/neuter appointments only need to be done once instead of repeatedly over a period of weeks or months.

PLACE THE TRAP IN A MORE SECLUDED LOCATION

When you are ready to trap again, withhold food for 24 hours. In many municipalities, all felines are required to be vaccinated for rabies. If a pet or stray is picked up and no owner identification is possible, the animal is at risk of being put in a shelter and potentially euthanized. In some places, for example, Rhode Island, kitties must be spayed and neutered and wear a collared ID to be allowed to roam outside.

DO WHAT YOU CAN TO TRAP ALL CATS AND KITTENS DURING YOUR FIRST TRAPPING SESSION

Next, place the open, unset trap in your yard with a dish of food right next to it. After several days, start placing the food inside the open trap so that the cat gets comfortable with it. Then, set up the trap in a flat, secure area with a small dish of food placed behind the pressure plate. Throughout the day, check on trap as often as you can to ensure that the cat isn’t left inside it for too long. For more advice, including how to make the trap more secure and inviting to the cat, keep reading. The Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats is California's only 100% feral cat rescue and socialization facility.

Start with the food right by the entrance of the trap and gradually move it closer to the back each day. Of course, this all depends on your area’s local laws and regulations. Injury to humans or other pets and property damage may be something caretakers of untamed colonies find themselves liable for. We fed it a few times a day and then started sitting far away from it so it would get used to our presence.

These ordinances write into law protections for community cats and their caretakers and explicitly endorse Trap-Neuter-Return. For model ordinances and examples of communities leading the way for humane care, read more about how Alley Cat Allies is creating community change. They will probably be very quiet as long as they are covered.

Caretakers can provide food, shelter, water, medical care, and support for community cats. Caretakers must provide adequate food, water, and shelter every day and provide enough to cover every animal in the colony. Caretakers must find another caretaker or contact animal care services if they can no longer support the colony. Indiana also employs a good neighbor status and asks that neglected animals and those victims of cruelty, abuse, or abandonment be reported.

Tie the chicken in the far right corner of the trap so that the cat must “reach” to get the chicken. DO NOT use trapping equipment that is not specifically meant for cats. You could injure or even kill a cat with alternate trapping methods. The last thing you want to do while trapping is put yourself or the cats in danger. Even if you’re frustrated from failed attempts to trap a cat, never resort to the following techniques. The property is open to the public one weekend a month for Safari Tours, a 2.5-hour planned program that includes a one-hour guided walking tour.

The Best Places for Cat Lovers in Los Angeles

Don’t stick fingers in the trap or allow children or pets near the traps. Never leave traps unattended in an unprotected area, but don’t hang around within sight of the cat (or you will scare it off). Wait quietly in an area where you can still see the traps without disturbing the cats.

Animal Cruelty

It puts your pets at risk for injury, disease, and attack by other animals and wildlife, as well as a risk of being picked up by animal control services and taken to a shelter. Caring for and supporting feral and community cats is an admirable, worthwhile, and well-intentioned thing to do. In many communities, cats desperately need this support, and few people are willing to do it. If you hope to care for and support community cat colonies, investigate the laws in your state and local municipality. Also, contact local animal shelters to learn more about stray and feral cat care programs in your community. It is an enormous task to take on alone, and it often seems impossible to help every kitty that needs support.

Utilizing Trap-Neuter-Return-Monitor (TNRM) to Manage Community Cat Populations

Other fragrant options include mackerel, salmon, sardines or fried chicken. With females, check the site of their spay incision prior to release. Remove any newspaper from the floor of the trap and have a helper lift the trap up in the air.

Caring for Trapped Cats

Trap, neuter, and return protocol is expected for untamed cats. Caretakers must register with a contracted rescue group to establish a trap, sterilize, and return process. Rescue groups are responsible for maintaining records, caretaking of untamed animals, and reporting annually to the Department of Health. TNR has been shown to be an efficient tool in managing the number of untamed felines in diverse communities worldwide. Animal welfare advocates (such as the ASPCA), veterinarians, and policymakers have embraced it.

The mother cat may think her kittens are calling for her and enter the trap to find them. Clear the space of any possible hiding places, then lean a single large board against a wall. When the cat is locked into the smaller space, she’ll immediately try to find the nearest hiding spot. Since you only left her one option, she’ll dart behind the board and possibly right into the trap. Prop the box trap door open with a stick or a full water bottle with string tied around it. Use enough string so you can hide a few feet away and hold the end of it.

Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats

Only trap when you are home or otherwise available to watch traps intently. If you are not in a position to be watching cats as they walk into traps, plan to check them every 15 minutes or so, in any weather. Never leave traps unattended for hours on end and definitely never leave traps open overnight. Raccoons, possums, skunks and other wildlife are nocturnal and can be attracted to the bait. Cats can also thrash around, pull the cover off and potentially scrape their faces on the trap or pull out a claw or become otherwise injured.

(great) Mother’s Day gifts

Never place the “bait” animal in the trap or anywhere where it may be harmed by the trapped animal. Plan to set traps just before or at the cats’ normal feeding time. And remember; never try to touch feral cats or let them out of the trap. Cover the trap with a large towel, blanket, sheet or old bedspread, and keep it covered even after you have trapped the cat.

One of the most recognized cartoon characters in film history, Felix the Cat was created in the silent era and reached the height of his popularity in the Roaring Twenties. Numerous individuals and organizations have adopted the mischievous black cat as a mascot, including L.A. Untamed cat colonies who are not taken care of with vaccinations or neutering often spread disease to pets and livestock and can be very aggressive towards people. Often known as “leash laws,” these regulations prohibit cats from being loose in the community. Leash laws are incompatible with Trap-Neuter-Return, because community cats are by nature free-roaming, and they don’t have an owner whose property they can stay on. Females in heat can be placed in a carrier to attract male cats who have been eluding the traps.

Make sure they are not placed on a hill where they could tip or roll over when cats enter them. Ensure that metal traps do not sit on particularly hot or cold pavement (those temperatures could make the metal painful to the cats’ paw pads when they touch it). It is essential that they be very clean with no left over residue from previous trapping sessions. Clean and scrub with hot soapy water, and finish with a mild bleach mixture spray, rinse and dry thoroughly.

Leave only a single large board (approx 5 ft. long, 3 ft. wide) leaning against one wall, creating a triangular space. Place a set trap on the floor at one end of the board and block off the open space right above the trap with a sheet. When the cat enters the room and is frightened, he’ll run behind the board, sometimes straight into the trap. If he doesn’t go right in, gently poke a broomstick into the non-trap opening of the board to encourage him to move forward.

It is possible to bond with an untamed kitty, but it is essential to have different expectations from these kitties than from other socialized pets. The amount of bonding potential depends upon the untamed level of the individual animal. Some diseases that untamed, unvaccinated felines carry can possibly pass on to humans, including toxoplasmosis, rabies, and other flea and tick-borne illnesses. The kitty stopped showing up after about a week, so we never knew what happened to it. I encourage people to get a cage if they have frequent fertile cats in their area if they want to trap them.

While the number of community cats in the United States is estimated to be in the tens of millions, sadly, many communities still opt to control populations using outdated, ineffective methods. Community cats who end up in shelters make up a large percentage of cats euthanized throughout the country every year. The ASPCA supports Trap-Neuter-Return-Monitor (TNRM) as a humane and effective method to manage community cat populations. Feed trap-shy cats out of unset traps in their normal feeding locations for a week or two before trapping again.

In denial, Charles does not tell his daughter until a few days before she wakes up and finds, to her horror, she is completely blind. Mary becomes bitter over her predicament and having to rely on others for basic needs. Meanwhile, Charles, Jonathan Garvey, and the rest of the town of Walnut Grove have another problem as the whole township is threatened by an escalation of a dispute between The Grange and the railroads. This prevents crops and other items from being sold and traded, and disables the bank, causing financial problems for the entire town. At the end of the episode, Charles drives Mary to the blind school where she will spend the next few months.

When Laura and Mary go skinny-dipping with their friend, Ellen Taylor (Mia Bendixsen), some boys come by to get a glimpse. Laura and Mary come back up, but Ellen becomes trapped under the surface; she drowns as a result. After the funeral, Ellen's grief-stricken mother blames Laura for the tragedy and rebuffs the efforts of several people to cheer her up. When Laura pays a visit to Mrs. Taylor, she tricks Laura and traps her in the basement, because in her grief she deliriously imagines that Laura is her daughter Ellen.

Books

Now, Joe's biggest challenge is to figure out how to keep his son from making the same mistake he did. When Charles' mother, Laura Colby Ingalls (Jan Sterling) passes away, he travels to Wisconsin and persuades his father, Lansford Ingalls (Arthur Hill), to go back with him to Walnut Grove. While staying with Charles and his family, Lansford begins to form a special relationship with his granddaughter Laura, and this is strengthened when he tells Laura that she was named after her grandmother, Lansford's wife. The following is a list of episodes for the television show Little House on the Prairie, an American Western drama about a family living on a farm in Walnut Grove, Minnesota from the 1870s to the 1890s. The show is a full-colour version of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s series of Little House books. Season 1 had moderate ratings, season 2 was the lowest ranked season of the series.

Victor French, Jr., (Son of Victor French who played Mr. Edwards)

Eventually, Charles discovers what happens and teaches Laura a lesson about lying. Mr. Edwards and Doc Baker provide help to a nearby town during a mountain fever epidemic. When Mr. Edwards returns, Walnut Grove is placed under quarantine and Alicia, Mr. Edwards' daughter, becomes ill with the disease. Laura, unaware of the danger, visits the Edwards' home and helps nurse her friend back to health. Anticipating a bumper return from his wheat crop, Charles is devastated when a hail-storm flattens all the crops in the area. As a result, he has to travel away from home to find work and make some money, and meets up with Jack (Don Knight) and Jacob.

While out fishing, Laura finds a bottle in the creek with a note inside that reads "Be my friend." She eventually persuades Charles to help her look for the writer of the note, but instead they find an abandoned baby. Laura looks after the baby, whom she names Grace, while Charles tries to find the parents. Charles first locates the young father, Bobbie, and together they find the mother who is his beloved, Anna. They had wanted to marry but she was taken away by her strictly religious father who is deeply embittered because his wife went off with another man.

Having to use a crutch and fearing he is crippled for life and will be a burden to his family, he falls into severe depression. Charles and Laura travel to visit, and after Laura seems to revive Edwards' old spirit, he suggests a hunting trip for the three. However, it soon transpires that Edwards has other plans, and twice Charles has to stop Edwards from trying to commit suicide. In desperation, Charles pretends to have been injured in a gun accident, and Edwards has to walk out for help, shocking him back to his old, irascible self. There, Mary meets up with John Jr., who has started a job as a cub reporter for a newspaper.

A pack of starving dogs arrives at the Ingalls farm, where Mary is alone with the children. Mrs. Oleson's prejudice troubles a former circus dwarf who is trying to raise his daughter alone. The Carters buy the Ingalls' farm; Laura welcomes teacher Etta Plum and Almanzo's relatives. An elderly farmer (Lew Ayres) urges Almanzo to run for mayor to oppose Mrs. Oleson. A black boy (Todd Bridges) offers to be the Ingalls' slave in exchange for attending school.

When the circus comes to town, Nels discovers that his estranged obese sister, Annabelle, whom he was always ashamed of when they were kids, is the Fat Lady, and seeks to avoid anyone knowing this. Meanwhile, Laura becomes depressed when she goes to ask Almanzo to the circus, only to find out that he is already taking a rude, snobby and snooty young woman named Christie, for whom she has been mending a dress. When she delivers the dress five minutes late, Christie refuses to pay her the full amount. Laura has a heart to heart with the sad clown about Almanzo and discovers the clown is the circus manager!

Before their first day of school, Laura and Mary worry other students won't accept them. Mrs. Oleson's gossip column praises her family and infuriates her neighbors. Laura makes a joke about an overweight man, unaware he is her best friend's father. Charles decides to bring Albert back to Walnut Grove after police arrest him for theft in Chicago. The Ingalls, Garveys and Olesons have trouble with city life; Charles tries to reform Albert.

The families return home to Walnut Grove, only to find the town in disrepair and a dispirited and disabled Lars Hanson declining after a stroke. It is up to the townspeople to rebuild Walnut Grove and rekindle the spirit of both the town and Mr. Hanson. Lars Hanson summons his final strength and appears before the townspeople to thank them for revitalizing the town he founded.

Nellie and Mrs. Oleson don't help matters when they share Mary's suspicions. Eventually, Mary confronts Chris with her suspicions and tells him he must leave, only to find out later it was a misunderstanding. These original North American DVD sets included interviews with former cast members Alison Arngrim, Dabbs Greer and Dean Butler.

While the cast celebrated the 50th reunion in Simi Valley in March, there are several more events planned around the country including in Connecticut, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. David Friedman, 53, played Jason Carter, and stopped acting after childhood. Ketty Lester, 89, signed some of her CDs for fans and sang at a worship service at the reunion.

As they search for her, the mystery rapist (revealed to be Hartwig) attacks both Sylvia and Albert, then is shot down by Mr. Webb. During the confrontation, Sylvia suffers a bad fall, and she later dies in the arms of a distraught, heartbroken Albert. Former college football star Pete Ellerbee comes to Walnut Grove to coach the town's football team and to encourage his son in playing. Albert joins the team and is inspired by Ellerbee's stirring pep talks about teamwork, responsibility and doing your best. Ellerbee's real goal is just to win, which for him proves manhood and pride, but his demands upon the boys' time leads him to a confrontation with Laura as their teacher. Soon, Albert and the others find football is not so much fun, and when Ellerbee's single-mindedness endangers Albert's well-being, Charles has to step in.

Albert then decides that his priority is his studies and that for him football should be for fun. Pete grudgingly resigns to making football practice less severe, after nearly destroying his marriage and family life. Six months before their planned wedding, Almanzo buys land for free from a Mr. Gray for a farm for him and Laura, but he agrees to a harsh deal that he must pay off the mortgage by a deadline or lose the title. When there is a drought, Gray, who owns the neighbouring farm, dams the stream which also waters Almanzo's land, thereby threatening Almanzo's crop and his ability to meet the deal. Eliza Jane falls in love with Harve Miller (James Cromwell), a friend of Almanzo's who has come to live in Walnut Grove.

The Olesons hire Percival Dalton to improve the operation of Nellie's failing restaurant and hotel but, even when it is temporarily renamed "Caroline's Restaurant and Hotel", Nellie stubbornly refuses to learn. Only when Percival tells her she is pretty does she soften and start to cooperate. However, as they return through Sleepy Eye, Laura spots an old courthouse building available for rent. Having learned that Almanzo is working in Sleepy Eye, Caroline suggests Laura go there to help set up the new blind school, but she runs into opposition from the grouchy caretaker who holes himself up in the building and the irascible rent collector. Caroline orders Laura to care for her dog, Jack, before going to town to greet a newcomer, Kezia Horn (Hermione Baddeley), who lives in the ruins of a house.

Little House on the Prairie Emmy Awards, Nominations and Wins Television Academy

little house on the prairie tv show

The episodes in these original sets are also known to have relatively poor video quality, such as tracking lines, as well as audio problems, though the quality issues are not as pronounced in the first few seasons as they are in the later seasons. The first three seasons of the old sets notably are also missing closed captioning. The beloved television series starring Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon originally aired on NBC from 1974 to 1982. (Boy, do we feel old! 🤯) It followed the life of the charming Ingalls family— husband Charles, his wife Caroline, and their three daughters—after they migrated westward to settle on a farm in Minnesota in the 1800s. The book also describes other farm work duties and events, such as the birth of a calf; the availability of milk, butter and cheese; gardening; field work; hunting; gathering; and more.

Main cast

From October 24 through October 28, 1966, five short episodes aired that were based on Little House in the Big Woods, with Red Shively as the storyteller. From October 21 through October 25, 1968, five more were released, this time based on Farmer Boy, with Richard Monette as the storyteller. When Percival's parents visit Walnut Grove for the birth of Nellie's baby, Percival reveals that his real name is Isaac Cohen, much to Harriet's consternation. Percival's father, Benjamin, is passionately and devoutly Jewish, which brings him into conflict with Harriet and her Christian beliefs, especially over the question of which religion the new baby will be raised in. Nels brokers a truce between Benjamin and Harriet with the suggestion that a boy should be raised in the Jewish faith and a girl should be raised as a Christian. When Nellie gives birth, she unexpectedly has twins, a girl and a boy, so Nellie and Percival agree to raise their son Benjamin as Jewish and their daughter Jennifer as a Christian.

‘Little House on the Prairie’ Cast Members Will Reunite in Honor of Michael Landon

Mrs. Oleson seems to enjoy spreading the bad news, but Charles and Caroline help to bring Laura and Almanzo back together. Meanwhile, Charles has his own problems with Laura as he tries to fit a new picture window in the house. Charles is elected to represent the farmers of Hero Township at a Grange convention in Milwaukee to consider a proposal that farming machinery should be bought directly from manufacturers, saving money for the farmers. At the same time, Caroline gets an invitation to the 25th anniversary reunion party of her school class of 1856 in the same city, so Charles and Caroline travel there together. They find that some of their old classmates have become financially prosperous, and are on the other side of the proposal by the Grange.

Jennifer Donati (Baby Rose Wilder)

An official from the Board of Education visits to assess the Walnut Grove school for state funding and he suggests that the curriculum should be extended. She introduces lessons in French and art appreciation, and also a dress code, to the consternation of most pupils and many parents. Albert organizes a class rebellion against the innovations, but Laura admonishes them and surprises Mrs. Oleson by speaking up in her favor.

Cast & Crew

After exploring various possibilities, Charles is persuaded by Albert to take the children back to Walnut Grove to search for a foster family there. Trying to start a new life after Alice's death, Jonathan moves to Sleepy Eye and buys a freight business. Jonathan helps Andy resolve his feeling that Mary and Adam are to blame for his mother's death. The fledgling business quickly becomes the target of robbers, and Jonathan becomes a deputy to support the sheriff in dealing with the villains. With help from Charles, Jonathan catches the ringleaders, but then Andy is beaten up by the gang, and the repercussions lead to a violent and tragic outcome.

Television adaptations

However, this final match strains elderly Milo's heart, and he dies after the match concludes with his victory and his pride restored. Picking up where the previous season left off, the Ingalls family moves to Winoka, where Mary teaches at a new blind school established by Adam Kendall. Charles takes a maintenance job at a hotel owned by a despotic local businessman, Miles Standish (Leon Charles).

Jennifer and Michelle Steffin (Rose Wilder)

Nellie has been mistreating Bunny, who was Laura's horse until she sold it to Mr. Oleson (in "Christmas at Plum Creek"). When Nellie falls off the horse and appears to be seriously injured, Mrs. Oleson blames Laura and wants Bunny to be killed, so Laura takes Bunny and hides her. Nellie exploits Laura's guilty feelings, but then Laura makes a discovery which leads to a comeuppance for Nellie, and Bunny becomes Laura's horse again. Charles and the girls go on a camping trip, with Caroline planning to join them later.

Season 3 (1976–

Jack has a job as a powder monkey in a quarry, and enables Charles and Jacob to get work there too, where the hard and dangerous work is well paid. Meanwhile, with the men away, Caroline organizes the local wives and children to salvage what they can of the wheat, using only their manual labour. Because of its historical context and its connection to the book series, it is deemed acceptable for use by the FCC to meet federal E/I programming guidelines. The show is typically stripped (run five days a week) in syndication, which is enough to completely cover a TV station's E/I requirements and more. The series theme song was titled "The Little House" and was written and conducted by David Rose. The ending theme music, also written by Rose, originally appeared as a piece of incidental music in a later-season episode of Michael Landon's previous long-running series, Bonanza.

"In the late summer of 1889", Almanzo and Laura's newborn son dies overnight from no obvious cause after having been proclaimed healthy by Doc Baker when he delivered him. At the memorial, Laura loudly blames Doc Baker for her baby's death and insists that he leave the graveside service. Doc Baker's reputation is damaged to the point that residents of Walnut Grove begin leaving town for medical care and he decides to move away. Then Rose becomes sick with smallpox and, against Laura's wishes, Almanzo calls in Doc Baker, who has to stay with them in quarantine. After Rose recovers, Laura acknowledges that she had been wrong about the doctor and persuades him to stay. The Carters, including their sons Jeb and Jason, adjust to life in Walnut Grove, but Jenny has a hard time doing so after her father dies.

At the last church service, Mary shares her testimony with the congregation. She has accepted her condition and is ready to go on with her new life with Adam in Winoka. A new family, the Carters (Stan Ivar as John, Pamela Roylance as Sarah, Lindsay Kennedy as older son Jeb, and David Friedman as younger son Jason), move into the Ingalls house. Meanwhile, Almanzo and Laura take in their niece, Jenny Wilder (played by Shannen Doherty), when Almanzo's brother dies and raise her alongside their daughter, Rose. The Wilders appear prominently in some episodes, while in others they appear only in early scenes used to introduce the story or its characters.

Charles and Caroline visit Walnut Grove and are pleased to be able to stay in the 'Little House' when John and Sarah Carter go out of town. Then the townspeople learn that a land development tycoon, Nathan Lassiter (James Karen), has acquired title to all the land in Hero Township, which they had believed to be homesteading land. Having failed to defeat his claim on legal grounds and even with guns against an army cavalry unit, the townspeople are inspired by Laura to vent their anger at what they see as an injustice, and they decide upon a drastic plan of action. When Lassiter arrives to claim the town, he finds all the town buildings dynamited, and the townsfolk leave to start new lives elsewhere, as many of them have done before. He is forced to relent, however, when he is told that the leaders and businessmen of other nearby towns, having heard what happened in Walnut Grove, announce they will do the same thing. As Lassiter walks off in defeat, Reverend Alden loudly proclaims that Walnut Grove did not die in vain, prompting a huge celebration.

Later copies of these original sets were distributed by Lionsgate Home Entertainment following their acquisition of Imavision, but these should not be confused with the Lionsgate re-releases described below. The DVD sets sold in the United Kingdom were released by Universal Playback (a Universal Studios Home Entertainment label); this version is in PAL color and coded for region 2. Unlike the original North American DVD sets, the UK version contains mostly uncut episodes. The Little House on the Prairie books comprise a series of American children's novels written by Laura Ingalls Wilder (b. Laura Elizabeth Ingalls). The name "Little House" appears in the first and third novels in the series, while the third is identically titled Little House on the Prairie.

With Jonathan as coach, Albert and the livery school's football team challenge the private academy's undefeated football team. When it seems all is lost for the livery school, help comes from an unexpected place in the form of one of Adam's blind students. Mary needs more surgery, something that weighs heavily on Charles' mind as he feverishly works to earn enough money for his daughter's surgery. Eventually, a fatigued Charles causes an accident that traps him and a co-worker inside.

Charles and Jonathan compete against another team to win a freighting contract. Laura feels the first stirrings of attraction to a boy named Jimmy Hill (Chris Petersen) with whom she has previously enjoyed playing baseball and going fishing, but he does not respond in the same way. When a new girl arrives in school who looks like a rival, Laura decides she must compete for him by giving up her 'tom-boy' behaviour and becoming more like Nellie. Charles and Jonathan unexpectedly win the freighting contract, but, as they celebrate and make big plans, they realize that it would involve them not seeing their families for long stretches of time, so they refuse the contract. When Laura's new strategy does not work, her Ma persuades her that she should be true to her real self. Eventually, Jimmy does notice her as a girl, and Laura has her first kiss with a boy.

David’s plans also come with a 100% satisfaction exchange policy. With the large amount of architectural home styles available, finding a style you like can help narrow down your home search immediately. Once you’ve landed on one, then you can focus on other specifics like square footage, number of bedrooms, outdoor living space and more. The Shanghai Transaction Succeed Office, designed by One House Design, reimagines office space with a focus on combining multiple functional areas. The design explores the combination and interaction of multiple spaces by excavating the distinctive features of the company, and by extracting, breaking down, and developing from the elements of its logo.

Our design team can make changes to any plan, big or small, to make it perfect for your needs. Our Cost-to-Build Reports will get you the cost to build a specific house design in a specific zip code. Our portfolio is comprised of home plans from designers and architects across North America and abroad. The display section features a raised floor, a tiered roof, and a built-in BOX block, creating a visually interconnected fluid space with undulating silhouettes, multi-dimensional mapping, and organic forms. This area serves both as a gallery and exhibition space, with an art installation with contrasting colors and lighting as the central hub. The open office space offers visual permeability and clean lines, featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows that merge the interior with the exterior.

Simple Search

Most concrete block (CMU) homes have 2 x 4 or 2 x 6 exterior walls on the 2nd story.

Ask a child to draw a neighborhood, and they’ll likely offer an image of a squares with a triangles on top, not doodles of round houses. Though walls with right angles and pitched roofs may be the most common archetype when it comes to residences, circular homes are arguably more interesting, simply because of how unique they are. Round design stretches back centuries—think igloos, teepees, and yurts—and the designs of many historic cultures are often based on circular forms. Many of our home plans have photos from customers that show how the same design was built by different clients customized to fit individual needs, budgets, and building lots.

Whether you're looking for a traditional, modern, farmhouse, or contemporary design, you'll find a wide variety of options to choose from in this collection. Explore this collection to discover the perfect home that resonates with you and your lifestyle. We understand that choosing a house plan to build from is a big decision and can be a daunting task. Using our Collections page will make it easier for you to narrow down your search. Once you select one, our user-friendly interface makes it easy to save plans, compare them, filter by square footage, and view floor plans, renderings, photos and videos.

And corporately, the company is set to introduce another half dozen new ships in 2022 alone. Some anticipated ships are Carnival Celebration and Princess Cruises’ Discovery Princess, which is headed to the West Coast. Like a high-seas version of the Fyre Festival, which promised a luxury music concert in the Bahamas and delivered cold sandwiches and makeshift tents, the cruise imploded.

Here are ten of the best around-the-world cruises you can take in 2023 and 2024. Elizabeth Rhodes is a special projects editor at Travel + Leisure, covering everything from luxury hotels to theme parks to must-pack travel products. Originally from South Carolina, Elizabeth moved to New York City from London, where she started her career as a travel blogger and writer.

The three-year voyage departs from Istanbul on Nov. 1, 2023, with additional pick-ups in Barcelona and Miami later in 2023. The company also offers payment options starting from $2,499 per month, which includes food and beverage. Cabin options range from 130-square-foot interior rooms to 260-square-foot balcony suites. For meals, passengers can choose to dine at either of the two main restaurants, visit the café on the pool deck, or order room service. See 28 countries on the 138-day Viking World Cruise from Fort Lauderdale to London.

Royal Caribbean pulls out all the stops — and there are more than 150 of them — on this 274-night cruise to all seven continents. Travelers who don't want to commit to the entire cruise can book shorter segments. Fares start at $59,999 for this cruise that gives travelers the opportunity to visit 11 of the great wonders of the world, including the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, and Chichen Itza.

Imagine yourself on a world cruise vacation to six continents, 25 countries, and 34 cruise destinations, making this the journey of a lifetime. The 47 destinations in 32 countries, including more than 27 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, crossing the equator twice and the International Dateline and the Panama Canal. This trip features several late-night port calls, ensuring plenty of time in each port, with overnight stays in Lima, New York, and St. Petersburg. The final leg of the Ultimate World Cruise is an immersive, cultural experience that begins in the Mediterranean and heads north. Museums, theatres and galleries line the streets of St. Petersburg, Russia, while larger-than-life fjords await in Norway.

Yes, Villa Vie Residences, plans to sail the world in three and a half years, after purchasing a 924-passenger ship that is expected to launch in May. The MS Breamer ship will undergo a renovation that will begin early in 2024 and take roughly eight weeks to complete. During the cruise of the seven continents, the passengers would see the pyramids of Giza in Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru, the Great Wall of China, Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer statue, and India’s Taj Mahal. “Professionals need connectivity, the right amenities, and the functionality to perform their jobs. There is no other cruise product that offers this sort of flexibility to their customers,” says Mikael Petterson, managing director of Life at Sea Cruises.

The Turkish company, Miray Cruises, had announced the cruise, called Life at Sea, in March. It claimed it would be the longest cruise ever — 382 port calls over 1,095 days — and a community at sea, with opportunities to explore the globe. Starlink internet and a business center would allow passengers to work remotely. In exchange, passengers — or residents, as the company called them — were promised a long list of amenities, including an onboard hospital and doctor. Some cabins could host cats; travelers were also promised high-speed internet, free dining, alcohol and laundry service, and "enrichment seminars." They would spend roughly 300 days at sea, 795 days at port and have 413 overnight port stays, Chief Operating Officer Ethem Bayramoglu of Miray Cruises, the Turkish parent company of Life at Sea, said in that online session.

It all starts with the boldest cruise ships at sea — and ours have won awards for everything from world class dining and spectacular entertainment, to record-setting onboard thrills and groundbreaking innovation. While other around-the-world cruises typically spend a day or two at each port, the advantage of this much longer sailing is that it will dock for up to seven nights in some larger cities, like Shanghai and Singapore. The vessel will depart from Istanbul, Turkey, on November 1, 2023, before making additional stops (where passengers can also embark) in Barcelona and Miami.

When you're not exploring each port, you can relax in the swimming pools and hot tubs, visit the many restaurants, bars, and lounges, or go to the spa. Our longest voyage ever sets sails in January 2025 as Island Princess embarks on an epic 116-day roundtrip World Cruise from both Ft. Lauderdale and Los Angeles, visiting 51 destinations in 26 countries across 6 continents. This adventure includes our first ever visits to historic Bar, Montenegro, and Taranto, Italy. Also maiden for our North American World Cruises are stops to the idyllic Greek islands of Patmos and Volos – for the Monasteries of Meteora. Sailing around the world in 80 days may be legendary, but sailing around the world in 1,001 days is now a reality.

World cruises usually begin in January and end in April or May, but some lines change it up with departures in other seasons, including summer and early winter. Cruise itineraries are still under development for 2025 and future years, so watch this space for more information as it becomes available. Choose one of four Ultimate World Cruise segments — each an unforgettable voyage of 60+ nights where you can wander and explore that corner of the globe. This is your chance to dive deeper into the world’s most remarkable destinations on 16 unique, immersive sailings ranging from 9 to 28 nights. Part of Carnival’s approach has included the accelerated recycling of several older ships to focus on more efficient and more exciting newbuilds. Over the last two years, its namesake Carnival Cruise Line brand has offloaded five of its eight classic Fantasy-class ships.

Pristine natural beauty in Bali, Indonesia, is soon followed by two of the most iconic manmade world wonders, the Great Wall of China and India’s Taj Mahal, and gems of the South Pacific – from Vietnam to Malaysia. Rounding out the expedition are endless possibilities in Japan, with unparalleled culture in Tokyo, street food in Osaka and the tropical beaches of Okinawa. At each port, the vessel will stay docked for multiple days to allow its passengers to explore at their leisure.
